Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 4, 2026
BookVibes ("we", "us", "our") publishes interactive travel guides at bookvibes.io. This policy explains what data we collect when you visit the site or interact with our Meta-platform (Facebook / Instagram) integrations, how we use it, and what choices you have.
1. What we collect
From you, as a reader
The public reader does not require an account, does not set tracking cookies, and does not run third-party analytics. When you load a page our servers automatically log standard request metadata — IP address, user-agent string, referring URL, and the path you requested — so we can diagnose errors and detect abuse. These logs are retained for up to 30 days and are not shared with third parties.
From third-party content
Article pages embed an interactive map widget served by PerfectElements (theperfectelements.com). When you scroll the map into view your browser makes requests directly to that widget's CDN and API. Those requests are governed by PerfectElements' own privacy practices.
From Meta platforms
We use Meta APIs (Facebook Graph API, Instagram Graph API, Meta Business Suite) to publish BookVibes content to Pages and Instagram accounts we operate, and may read public Page-level metadata (post engagement, audience metrics) to evaluate the reach of our own posts. Depending on which integrations are enabled at a given time, this may also include:
- Page or Business access tokens issued to BookVibes by a Page admin who has authorized us. These are stored encrypted and used only to publish and manage content on Pages we are authorized to operate.
- Public information about Pages or Instagram accounts we own or operate (page name, follower counts, post insights). We do not collect or store data about other Facebook or Instagram users.
- If we ever offer Facebook Login or similar end-user Meta sign-in, we will collect only the profile fields you authorize at the consent screen (typically name, email, public profile). We will update this policy before enabling such a feature.
Our use of information received from Meta APIs adheres to Meta's Platform Terms and Developer Policies, including the Limited Use requirements.
2. How we use it
- To operate, secure, and improve the BookVibes website.
- To publish, schedule, and manage content on Meta Pages we are authorized to operate.
- To diagnose errors, prevent abuse (rate-limiting, blocking malicious traffic), and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell personal data, we do not use it for advertising targeting, and we do not use Meta-derived data to build profiles of individuals.
3. How we share it
We share data only with:
- Infrastructure providers that host the site and databases (DigitalOcean, GitHub Container Registry). They process request and log data on our behalf under their own privacy terms.
- Meta Platforms, when publishing to Pages or fetching Page insights we are authorized to access.
- Legal authorities, where required by valid legal process.
4. Cookies
The reader does not set cookies. Third-party scripts (such as the embedded map widget) may set their own cookies; consult their privacy policies for details.
5. Data retention
- Server access logs: up to 30 days.
- Meta access tokens: kept while the integration is active. Revoked or deleted within 30 days of an integration being disconnected.
- Page-level insights data we have fetched: kept for as long as it supports our analysis; deletable on request.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR for the EU/UK, CCPA for California, etc.) you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Email [email protected] with your request and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are a Facebook or Instagram user and want any data we hold from a Meta integration deleted, email the same address with the Page name or handle and we will remove the corresponding records and tokens.
7. Children
BookVibes is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International transfers
Our infrastructure is hosted in regions that may differ from your own. By using the site you consent to the processing of your data in those regions, subject to safeguards required by applicable law.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
